People,
I have started a project which isn't really gaming, but it does involve a console: Sega GameGear. The device has a defective screen as is in need of an overhaul, so I decided to create a new case for it, detach the control pad and add a device to connect it to a tv set. Progress on research on how it's going to be done is being made and I'm almost ready to start collecting the parts needed. After the electronics are finished I will post a picture of the result if anyone is interested. If not, I'll post it anyway. And ofcourse, when the complete unit is done (electronics and case) I will post yet another picture. The final device will be called MasterGear as the GameGear is basicly a portable MasterSystem, but not quite, so a non-portable GameGear would need a name that is something in between, MasterGear it is.

Too bad about the screen, that was my favorite part of the GameGear back in the day, it had a really nice colour screen while everything else was terrible colour (Gameboy Colour) or no colour at all (Gameboy).
I'd like to see pictures when your done. =)

Well, I allready have all the parts I need and started putting it together, I have allready connected all power wires, I just need to wire all correct pins together for the data and it should be ready to go. Instead of mounting the GG into a completely new case I going to insert 2 DB9 connectors in the bottom of the unit, 1 for the RGB decoder, which is going to be mounted in a separate little case and 1 for an external controller, I need to find a useable one for that purpose though, a Master System, Megadrive or Genesis controller would do the trick.

Geneses Controlers are awesome...that's the only reason my Sega broke though, those darn pins. My player one pins in the sega snapped off.

Crack open the box, remove the connector, install a DB9 connector, remove the connector from the controller, attach a DB9 (male if the other was female or the other way around) and connect the wires in a way that it works. You should be ready to use the system again in a few hours without to much electronics experience or knowledge Another thing you could do is give me that controller I would be gratefull

I got as far as crack open the box and then you lost me. XD
I'd really like to fix it though. I'll try to catch you on MSN at some point.
You relize the bit I'm talking about is the conroler pins though right? Not the power bit.

Oh I know, you just need to fix the connector on the controller, with that, you'll have to replace the controller connector on the console too... Mostly it's just keeping the right colors together

That's only the second level isn't it? You just get on the other side of him, he lights the barrel on fire and you push the barrell underneath him he dies instantly. XD
I never get past the level AFTER the training dojo. I've had the game for years and and I still can't beat it. XD

The first one was great, second one was a little akward but still good. My mom even liked Toe-Jam and Earl. Any time she hears funky music she goes "Hey! It's toejam and earl music".
