This is a great series of movies about a Blind Samurai (more like a Yakuza with morals though). He travels from town to town and gets sucked into the problems around him. Ever movie he kills off some badguys and has some sort of bittersweet melodramatic ending. Some of the most brilliant action scenes I've ever seen. However the action is really quik and to the point. It's "slash" your dead. Not "Slash, jump around, dance, run across a wall, do fifty backflips and then your slightly injured". Anyone else seen these? Theres 26 of them I think, plus a remake done in 2003 or so. the old ones are better though, Shintaro Katsu is a beast.

This sounds really cool and fun. 26 sounds like too many though. I misread though at first "He travels from town to town and gets sucked..." that's when I looked up the picture and thought, "hrm I can see what's going on in this scene."

I've heard of these movies, but I never knew anything about them. Interesting finding out something about them, although it was quite a while ago when I was actually interested. I've only seen one clip of it and it's pretty much like you said. It was one cut and they were dead. btw, is this the same guy the Boondocks mentions? I figured it was, but I could never be sure.

The anime series called the Boondocks. Basically it flashed over to a blind samurai that cut people in two. Luckily I found a cut of it which might help. www.youtube.com/watch?v=gcPmCl__wWs

You can usualy find them for sale in DVD stores though, in the Martial Arts or Foreign section. Yea that's deffinatly a reference to Zatoichi. However Zatoichi doesn't hold his sword like that. He holds it sort of upside down. They probably didn't want to be EXACTLY like him though. =P Look at how fast Zatoichi is (the actor is quite good):

wow didn't know this was a series, I saw one with a different actor, he came to a town defeated this ninja gang plus a corrupt mayor and his body guard. Then in the end it turned out he wasn't blind and was only keeping his eyes shut.
was around 2 hours long though, is it really a series?

Also I'm pretty sure you're wrong, he was blind he was just freaking that guy out. That's why at the end of the movie he tripped. He was just faking regaining his eye sight. There was also a t.v series, in the t.v series he regains his eyesight but looses an arm or something. So he can't fight anymore. Which is actaully quite redeeming for the charecter.
