Just went to my friend’s house and, on two separate occasions, watched the first two evil deads, having never seen them before that.
My thoughts: The first one was too slow paced but still had its funny moments. The tree rape scene was pretty funny in a twisted sort of way and the way his friend goes hysterical cutting up his girlfriend with the axe is notably hilarious.
The second one had better pacing was more slap stick with the scene where he fights his hand. Sort of like the third one I guess that way, but funnier scene in my opinion. My one problem is, the fact that they change so much. I'm okay with all the technical problems as it just made things more hilarious. They could have started off where the first one left off and skipped having it start off as the same movie. He is getting chased by "evil" at the end of the first one, they could have had it make him fly through the woods the same way he did in this. Not really sure why they called it a new movie when it had the same exact concept just done differently. So basically the second one is like watching the same one over again just faster pacing and, I think, better. Aside from the absence of the tree rape:p
Edit- Oh yeah, think the first one has more gore which is always good. It is notably hilarious, that to avoid an x-rating they had the blood change colors and, disappear from the walls when it splattered everywhere.

Are the first two comedic on purpose? like the third one? I saw the third one a long time ago. Army of Darkness, or as it's known in Japan, Captain Supermarket!

If I'm correct the first movie was intended as more horror than comedy. I never saw it myself, not really interested. The only thing part I did see was the infamous tree rape scene which was suitably disturbing and funny at the same time. I did see Evil Dead 2 though and I loved it, as well as Army of Darkness, which I didn't find as funny but more badass.
